This blog describes my journey as a Foreign Service officer, wife of another FSO, and a mom to a terrific, loving, smart teenager. We began our careers with the State Department in 2010 and first served in amazing Bangladesh, followed by fabulous Rio de Janeiro. Then followed a two-year stint in Washington, DC, after which we lived in Russia, Ukraine, and are currently in Israel. Our lives are a pleasant circus and we cannot believe just how lucky we are to live our dreams.

Results of the FSOA
Just a brief note to let those who are waiting to hear know that I passed the Foreign Service Oral Assessment today. It was one INTENSE experience and that is ALL I am going to say for now. Happy it is over, and now prepping for my Russian phone exam. I am exhausted. More tomorrow.

Yey, for you! That's awesome! Congrats and best of luck being a tandem couple!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Let's see how long it takes to actually enter FSI on my own.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! I'm in much the same situation - taking the OA in October (and hopefully the Russian phone test too!), but if I don't pass, I'll be going along as the wife. During your OA, did you happen to mention that you are signed up for FS life regardless of passing? I'm wondering if that's a positive or negative in the eyes of the panel??

Megan, I was sort of cautioned not to--I didn't want them to think my only reason to join was that, because it wasn't. So, I never mentioned it. Good luck to you, it is quite the day.
ReplyDeleteI heard yesterday before swearing in - congrats!
